Suraya Abdulwahab Afiff, Ph.D

Suraya Afiff merupakan staf pengajar program sarjana dan pascasarjana Departemen Antropologi. Ibu Suraya ialah alumni sarjana Jurusan Biologi Fakultas Matematika dan Ilmu Pengetahuan Alam (FMIPA) UI pada tahun 1985. Ia memperoleh gelar magister dari Marine Affairs and Policy (RSMAS) di Universiy of Miami pada tahun 1996 dan gelar doktor diperoleh dari Environmental Science Policy and Management (ESPM) fokus pada Society and Environment di University of California at Berkeley pada tahun 2004.

Sebelum menjadi pengajar, ia merupakan program manager dari Wahana Lingkungan Hidup (WALHI) Indonesia sejak tahun 1988 hingga 1994. Pada tahun 2004 ia bergabung dengan KARSA Institute. Ia juga pernah menjabat sebagai Ketua Pusat Kajian Antropologi UI dari tahun 2007 hingga 2017 dan menjadi peneliti dalam program “JARAK: the commoditization of an alternative biofuel crop in Indonesia” yaitu salah satu bagian dalam program penelitian “Agriculture beyond Food” yang didanai oleh KNAW dan NOW.
